Florence to Rome by Bike tomorrow!

Today is Friday the 5^th May and we are sitting on a train going back to Florence. It was pouring rain this morning but only cloudy now. From Rapallo to Florence is a 4 hour train trip and it stops on the way through Pisa so we decided we might get off there and have a look at the Leaning Tower as we will be passing anyway and we don’t have to meet until 7pm to get together with our Bike Tour Group and have our orientation in Florence. Last night we lashed out and dined out at a traditional Italian restaurant, we had a three course meal including Pizza, pasta, chocolate profitta rolls and wine that is what I had and Gary ate a huge plate of mussels and a whole fish with fruit so we both rolled out of the restaurant and it only cost E58 we estimated it to be around E100 so we were happy. We must smell like garlic though as we could see chunks of it as we ate. The weather forecast for the next coupe of days looks like it will be similar but we hope the further south we go the nicer it is, this is the theory anyway. We have just stopped in Carrara, this is where all the marble comes from and it is everywhere in huge blocks besides the railway lines. Gary noticed from the train that a whole side of a mountain was missing where they must have taken out the marble so imagine in time to come there won’t be a mountain or no more marble. What ever the outcome, it is obvious that the environment is not the priority here. The blue sky is peeping out behind the clouds now.  Signing off for now and I will tell you how the rest of the day went tonight.

Yes we were here!

Back again, well Pisa was short and sweet. We got out at the train station and jumped into a taxi which took us there with our luggage in tow. We decided to have lunch there and take a few happy snaps in time to get the 3.35pm back to Florence. It was so sunny and nice there and we got the shots we wanted. After a walk and a cappuccino we got the taxi back to the station. Tonight we will be going out for dinner after we meet up with our tour group so I hope they are a good group of fun people to travel with. I will let you know on the next blog. PSS. Now back in Florence and we are ready for our next adventure riding from Florence to Rome so I hope I have the energy to keep blogging xx
