Well we are safely back in Lisbon ready to take a flight to Toulouse at 7am in the morning which means we have to be at the airport at 5am so it is very early to bed. We arrived to the Radisson Blue Hotel in Lisbon after a bus ride from Evora and returning our hire car all in one piece with scratches. The hotel is usually 200 euro a night and we paid 62 euro from Australia so we were very excited to see a room that is as big as an apartment and a large bath with all the luxuries. Such a fitting way to end our Portuguese experience, we ate Chinese food of all things and are now sipping liquor from Serra de Estrela, whilst I am typing Gary is watching the Italian Tennis open and realized that we will be in Paris for the French Open. He is hoping to get a ticket now!
So now a follow up from yesterday and our final leg of our driving trip in Portugal . We have seen the most incredible sites and drove 1000 kilometres. We were so excited to reach the 2000m in the only ski resort in Portugal . If we had been there a week earlier we would have had more snow but as it was we found a patch to enjoy a picnic on a rock surrounded by snow. On the way back to Evora we stayed in a beautiful place also a fortress village as they all are because they are on the boarder of Spain . These photos were posted in the yesterday’s blog.
Today we went to world famous horse breeding stud in Alter do Chao called Coduelaria and we were so lucky that we arrived just when an Italian film crew came to film a documentary so we got a private showing of all the brood mares with their foals. They film all over the world and the show in Italy is called Green Line in Italian of course www.lineoverde.rei.it. We might be on TV in two weeks today!
Well I will sign off now so we can get some sleep. Tomorrow it will be France . Life couldn’t be better. I hope you are all well too, love Chel and Gary xx

Hi guys,
ReplyDeleteIt is so great to look at your photos while you are telling us the stories of where you are and what you are doing. If you had showed us later I am sure they wouldn't mean the same to me.
I can't believe you found snow!!!! and the cute little snowman - priceless.
We have had a busy week, Kirsten and Luke had their engagement party last night, put together in 5 days!!! It was a great night, I know Kirst and Luke loved it.
I can't wait to hear all about France as we are probably going next September, a friend is renting a villa in Carcassone for 6 weeks, and asked if we would like to go for awhile.
I am so glad you are both still having a ball together.
bye love you xx
ps love the photo of Chel behind the lodge x
